The 51st Winter School of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Biotechnology (FBBB) entitled "The Roadmap to FBBB Development"

The 51st Winter School will be held in Kraków from February 7 to February 9, 2024. The conference will focus on several key objectives:

  1. Introducing Major Research Topics:
Provide insights into the major research topics within the departments and laboratories of the FBBB.
  2. Highlighting Promising Research Projects:
Showcase the most promising research projects from various research groups.
  3. Strengthening Collaboration:
Foster collaboration among different departments and laboratories within the Faculty.
  4. Showcasing Core Facilities and Sponsors:
Present major equipment, products, and services offered by the Core Facilities at the Faculty and acknowledge conference sponsors.
  5. Integrating Research Efforts:
Encourage the integration of efforts within FBBB groups for a comprehensive research development pipeline.

The program will unfold across three thematic areas:

  • Structure and Interactions of Biological Macromolecules
  • Cellular Ecosystems in Tissues and Organs
  • Host and Microbe, Pathogenic and Beneficial Associations

Each Department/Laboratory will be assigned to one of these thematic areas and allocated a time slot (ranging from 20 to 60 minutes based on group size) to present its research activities concisely. Heads of Departments and Laboratories, along with the most active members of each group, are expected to collaborate on presentations within the assigned time slots. The suggested presentation structure is as follows:

  • Introduction to the current research topics and future plans of the department (laboratory).
  • Emphasize the key importance of the research topics for basic science or biotechnology.
  • Highlight the uniqueness of the research potential within the Faculty and in a broader context.
  • Clearly define a research area on which the department (laboratory) could potentially collaborate within the Faculty.

This presentation structure will enable our community to bundle expertise and actively shape the strategy of Faculty development.

We extend a warm invitation to researchers and Ph.D. students from the Faculty to participate in the annual conference on-site at the main aula (P01.1) in the FBBB building (Gronostajowa 7 Street). Additionally, both Master's and Bachelor's diploma students will have the opportunity to participate online. All participants are required to register by completing the registration form (coming soon), with the deadline set for January 8th, 2024.

Please note that participation in the conference is free of charge and that the official language of the conference in English.

Following the conference, an integration banquet is planned at Bonerowski Palace (February 9th, 2024, at 7 pm). The participation fee for this event is 190 PLN per person, which must be declared in the registration form (for Participants from FBBB after acceptance of the terms of payment by the Head of Department/Laboratory).

We eagerly anticipate your active involvement and valuable contributions to ensure the success of this event.
